The brother of a northern man killed by police four years ago on the Clearwater River Dene Nation says he still has questions after the conclusion of the coroner’s inquest.

The coroner’s inquest into the Sept. 2, 2008 death of Harry Haineault wrapped up last week with the jury recommending the RCMP use greater risk assessment and analysis in its training of officers.

Nevertheless, Walter Haineault says he still does not know why there was no perceivable evidence of pepper spray in the aftermath of his brother’s death, after police said it was used.

Haineault adds he is also unsure why there is a difference of ten minutes in what sounds like a popping sound on a security video taken the night in question and when police say the gunshot that killed Harry Haineault actually occurred.

Harry Haineault was killed in September 2008 during on-foot chase with RCMP Cst. Jamie Grant.
