More than 400 people packed into the Ramada Inn in Saskatoon on Monday to protest the way the Harper government is treating First Nations people.

Aboriginal people are taking issue with the Conservative government over how it is failing to honour Indigenous rights in the areas of lands, water and treaties.

Dion Tootoosis, one of the Saskatoon event organizers, says the group called Idle No More is truly a grassroots project.

Similar rallies took place in major cities across Canada as part of World Humans Rights Day.

Idle No More rallies also took place in Regina, Prince Albert and North Battleford.
