The Battlefords Tribal Council wants Premier Brad Wall and Saskatchewan First Nations chiefs to hold a public inquiry into the gaming industry.

It also wants to regain control over the Gold Eagle Casino’s Community Development Corporation.

It is currently controlled by the Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs, which was formed about five years ago.

BTC spokesman Wayne Semaganis says the gaming industry isn’t being run efficiently, and that’s resulting in less revenues for bands.

The tribal council is also threatening a lawsuit against the FSIN and BATC if it doesn’t regain control of the Gold Eagle Casino CDC.

But Wall says he sees no reason to call a public inquiry into gaming in Saskatchewan.

The premier says his understanding is that this issue is a “pretty local concern”, and he hopes it can be resolved locally.
