An Aboriginal business owner from Saskatoon was a double winner at the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce Achievement in Business Excellence (ABEX) Awards on the weekend.
Kendall Netmaker of Neechie Gear was selected to receive the Aboriginal Business Partnership Award for exceptional leadership and commitment.
Netmaker notes his company also received the Community Involvement Award for the creation of a non-profit corporation that helps young athletes in need:
“I credit our own sports club that basically creates our own sports teams. So, last year, we had two under-18 boys and girls volleyball club teams that competed through the province, we had a soccer team this past summer, and we also had a basketball team on board from Pentiction, BC.”
This year, nearly 50 companies were nominated for ABEX Awards — and Neechie Gear was in the running in three categories.
