RCMP say alcohol is believed to have been a factor in a collision that left four people dead south of Blaine Lake over the weekend.

A minivan and two cars collided near a bridge on Highway 12 at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The victims have been identified as 45-year-old Curtis Lafond of the Mont Nebo area, 81-year-old Lillian Arcand and 19-year-old Brittany Omani from the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, and 21-year-old Amy Arcand from the Mistawasis First Nation.

Three other people were taken to a Saskatoon hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Mounties are continuing to investigate.
