It took a lot of hard work, but the lights and taps are working again at Ile-a-la-Crosse.

The northern Saskatchewan community suffered a power outage and a sewage line break last week that knocked out water and electricity for most residents.

The power went out on Tuesday night after high winds knocked over some power lines.

Full service was restored by Friday evening.

Mayor Duane Favel is hoping it doesn’t happen again:

“We’re crossing our fingers that everything is back to normal here in Ile-a-la-Crosse.  We’re glad it’s over . . . we’re really grateful for that.”

A boil water advisory remains in effect.
