The nominations are in for this year’s election at the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations.

Three people are vying to lead the Federation.

They include Perry Bellegarde of the Little Black Bear First Nation, Delbert Wapass of the Thunderchild First Nation and Morley Watson of the Ochapowace First Nation.

All three men have ties to the job.

Bellegarde is a former FSIN grand chief while Wapass ran in an earlier campaign which he lost to former chief Guy Lonechild.

For his part Watson acted as interim leader after Lonechild resigned.

The election will take place on October 25th.

Meantime two people are vying for the office of 1st vice-chief.

They are Red Pheasant chief Sheldon Wuttunee anbd Kimberly Jonathan of the Wahpeton Dakota First Nation.

3rd vice-chief Dutch Lerat has been acclaimed to the position for another term.
