Sentences have been handed down for two of three youths charged in a bear mace attack and beating in North Battleford.

The youths, aged 17 and 15, were sentenced by North Battleford Provincial Court Judge Dan O’Hanlon yesterday.

The 15-year-old received 12 months closed custody and six months community supervision.

The 17-year-old was sentenced to 14 months closed custody and seven months community supervision.

The offence dates back to June 17th.

Two boys, aged 14 and 16, were bear sprayed at about 1:30 a.m.

The younger teen got away and phoned 911 — but the 16-year-old was beaten so brutally, it took three days before he was able to open his eyes.

A third youth accused in the matter will be back in court next week.
