A hunger strike inside the Prince Albert Correctional Centre has now ended.

The eight inmates who were taking part in the demonstration began accepting food Monday night.

The inmates were upset after their free time was cut from six hours a day to one.

The jail said it had to perform security checks and that’s why the prisoners were being confined in their cells for 23 hours a day.

A Ministry of Corrections spokesman confirms those restrictions have now been loosened slightly, and inmates are getting 90 minutes a day outside their cells.
