Members of the Pelican Lake First Nation are mobilizing a ground search for a missing teen.

Sixteen-year-old Jerome Harris was last seen during the early morning hours of August 1st in the Big River area.

RCMP have previously said he might be in the Prince Albert area — but the family hasn’t seen any sign of the teenager.

Search organizer Debbie Thomas says the boy’s disappearance has been hard on his family:

“The father hasn’t slept.  I believe the mother hasn’t slept, either.  There’s been no organized search.”

Thomas says a meeting will be held this evening at the Pelican Lake band hall:

“So, I’m just trying to get people together — because I’ve talked to the father, I’ve talked to a few people that are helping with the search right now.  They want as many people, volunteers or hunters that actually know the back woods to see if they can help with the search.”

Thomas says they will search an area near Big River where a vehicle was recently discovered.

Volunteers can get more information at tonight’s meeting, which begins at 6:00 p.m.
