Metis in the province are preparing for tomorrow’s legislative assembly in Prince Albert.

At issue is when this year’s Metis Nation – Saskatchewan election will take place — and also, who the chief electoral officer for the vote will be.

An election was supposed to have taken place last month, but the MN-S decided to postpone it after a judge refused to declare the vote valid.

So far, neither the provincial or federal governments have publicly said whether or not they will fund the vote.

Concerns have also been raised about the number of ballot boxes that will be used in a potential vote, and whether there will be one for each individual community.

One proposal earlier this year suggested that only one ballot box would be used for each MNS region — a suggestion that drew the ire of some residents.

MN-S citizens will hold a general meeting immediately following the assembly.
