Some First Nations, Metis and other inner city parents are angry about the loss of designated community funding for community schools.

On Tuesday night, they packed the Regina Public School Board office to voice their concerns.

The First Nations, Metis and Community Education Branch has also been eliminated.

Trish Elliott is a spokesperson for the parents group.

She says they want to meet with the Deputy Minister for Education and express their concerns.

Elliot says local school boards don’t have the power they once had:

“Under this government, school boards have lost a lot of power anyways and the government has taken on responsibilities for more than it had in the past.”

She says they hope to meet the deputy minister in the next week or two.
