Saskatchewan MLA Rob Norris says he is looking forward to his new assignment.

On Friday, Norris was dumped as Minister of Advanced Education by the Premier.

Now, he is Brad Wall’s Legislative Secretary for First Nations Engagement.

Norris says he plans to visit a lot of First Nations and Metis communities, and that includes ones in northern Saskatchewan:

“I’m looking forward to being on the ground again in northern Saskatchewan.  I think many people will know I’ve spent time in some communities.  I’ve had an opportunity to be in Black Lake and Stony Rapids.  I’ve been in La Ronge and some other communities.  This is going to be an opportunity for me and for the government to actually spend more time in northern communities listening and learning.”

Norris says he hopes his new role can help the government eliminate the gap between the Aboriginal community and the employment sector.
