The Assembly of First Nations is continuing to stand firm behind recent legal action taken against a Calgary-based law firm.

Blott and Company represents over 4,000 people who are seeking compensation from the government for abuse suffered at residential schools.

It was several months ago that the firm was ordered to cease its hearings by a court in B.C.

The AFN is arguing that the firm has violated the spirit and intent of healing and reconciliation and is negatively affecting many residential school survivors.

However, according to the AFN, the firm still has not yet registered 1,400 clients — even though the deadline for claims under the Independent Assessment Process is September 19th of this year.

A hearing is scheduled to resume tomorrow before the B.C. Supreme Court.
