A third meeting will be held at the Poundmaker Cree Nation next week to come up with a band election procedure — but this one is not expected to include the chief and council.

The band held a meeting yesterday to choose an election code, but Chief Duane Antoine and council reportedly walked out — so no decision was made.

Antoine and some band councillors recently pleaded guilty to TLE theft.

A band election is scheduled for May 15th.

Wes Favel, a member of a group that wants a new election procedure, says they will go ahead without chief and council, if necessary:

“They have no place to tell us what to do, to dictate (to) us what needs to be done.  There’s no room for that anymore.  That’s our stand.”

Antoine could not be reached for comment.
