Efforts are underway by the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations and Saskatchewan’s Children’s Advocate to make life better for Aboriginal children and youth.

FSIN spokesman Kyle Prettyshield says both sides are working on a letter of understanding on how to improve things.

Prettyshield says that letter could be signed at the FSIN’s spring legislative assembly in June.

He thinks “we’re making some positive steps for change, effective change.”

The letter follows a report tabled last week by Children’s Advocate Bob Pringle.

It says quick action is needed to cut child poverty, alter the child welfare system, and improve services for Aboriginal children and their families.
