Officials with the First Nations University of Canada say no evidence of mold has been found at its 11th Street location in Prince Albert.

Testing of the facility was ordered after an inspector found moisture and mold in the basement of the building where the FNUC campus is situated.

Classes were then moved to the Central Avenue location as a precaution.

Vice-President of Finance and Administration, Juliano Tupone, says testing has determined there is no mold in the part of the building used by the university.

Tupone says there never was any health danger:

“We didn’t have any reason to think that our staff and students were at risk — but we wanted to err on the side of caution, given the importance of their health and safety.  So, we took the initiative to just temporarily relocate them to our Central Avenue facility and accommodate them there.”

He says they will continue to stay out of the building until the landlord deals with the situation.

Until then, classes will continue at the FNUC Central Avenue location, and the school year will not be affected.
