Voters at the Cumberland House Cree Nation have re-elected Lorne Stewart for his second term as chief.

He was first elected to that position in 2009 after serving as a band councilor.

Stewart received 385 votes, while challengers Barry Carriere received 94 and and Peter Laliberty received 91.

Re-elected to council are Angus McKenzie and William “Bill” Cook.

The two other council positions were won by Rene Chaboyer and James Stewart.

The chief and council at Cumberland House serve three-year terms.
