A Cumberland House resident wants to encourge people to donate organs for transplants.

Fifty-year-old Wanda Chaboyer had a heart and double lung transplant in Edmonton in 2007.

Chaboyer says it’s given her a second chance at life.

She would like to see the same opportunity for others who need transplants.

In Cumberland House alone, Chaboyer says she knows of at least four kidney transplant recipients, as well as a young girl who received a heart transplant.

According to the Canadian Transplant Society, 90% of Canadians support the idea of organ transplants — but less than 25% have made plans to donate organs.
