RCMP say there is no truth to reports on Facebook that someone is attempting to abduct children in the La Ronge area.
Cst. Josh Trefry says the rumours got started when someone thought they saw an abduction or attempted abduction of a child outside a local school recently.
Trefry says when RCMP investigated, it was determined it was just a case of a child being picked up at school by a parent or guardian.
He adds the local detachment has no knowledge of any other rumoured abduction attempts.
Trefry says he has been asked about these reports several times by community members — and decided it was best to put these rumours to rest.
He says if a report like this turned out to be true, the RCMP would make sure the public is notified.
