A La Ronge woman has received a fine and probation for her part in a fatal hit-and-run from last year.

On October 9th, 19-year-old Sheena Billette was arrested after the death of Carl Lance Smith of Pinehouse.

The 21-year-old man was hit by a vehicle while walking along the highway between La Ronge and Air Ronge.

Crown prosecutor Harold Johnson says, in preparing the case, some questions arose about the ability to prove guilt.

Billette was charged with impaired driving causing death.

Yesterday, she pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of impaired driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

She is also prohibited from driving for the next three years.
