A man from Porcupine Plain has been found guilty of catching protected fish from Tobin Lake.

Gerald Campeau was fined $2,500.

As well, for two years, he must also report any fishing activity — including fishing done under Treaty rights.

Ministry of Environment spokesperson Rich Hildebrand says Tobin Lake is popular with anglers and regulations are designed to protect various species.

Conservation officials say they received complaints about Treaty and non-Treaty people catching northern pike in the protected size range at Tobin Lake.
