A hunter from Staten Island, New York has been charged after a hunting accident which injured a guide last week near Meadow Lake.

The incident happened around 6:00 pm last Thursday, about 65 km south of Meadow Lake.

RCMP say a gun accidentally discharged, hitting the guide in the hand and abdomen.

He was taken to Saskatoon hospital for treatment.

The charges against 72-year-old Alan Guskind include criminal negligence causing bodily harm and careless use of a firearm.

Guskind is due back in court next April.

The guide is expected to make a full recovery.
