The Truth and Reconciliation Commission is holding its third National Event this week in Halifax

Commissioner Marie Wilson of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission says they have made some changes at their National Events to allow more time for survivors who are sharing their stories in public.

She says the sharing panel is set up more like a hearing rather than a traditional sharing circle.

“We created a forum where it’s a bit more like a hearing set-up that those in the north who have gone through big inquiries are familiar with.  The commissioners sit at the front of the room, that’s still more or less organized in a circle, but the person who is speaking to the commission is up front with us and has their own time and space so it’s a bit more intimate.”

Wilson also confirmed the dates for the Saskatchewan National Event is June 21st through 24th next year, but no location has been decided.
