An allegation by a Pelican Lake First Nation woman that she had been sexually assaulted by a police officer turned out to be a lie.
As a result, 37-year-old Myrna Chamakese is serving six months in jail and one year probation.
In 2008, Chamakese said Sergeant Barry Thomas had placed his fingers in her private parts, searching for tobacco and marijuana.
The allegation was investigated but no evidence was found to substantiate it.
Chamakese eventually admitted she had made it up.
She told court yesterday that a friend promised her drugs if she said that.
