Trial Ordered For Teen Suspect In Canoe Lake Death

A 17-year-old boy from Canoe Lake charged with second-degree murder will be going to trial in Court of Queen’s Bench.

A preliminary hearing was held this week in Meadow Lake.

The youth was arrested in February following the death of 73-year-old James Durocher.

Durocher’s body was found by firefighters in his burning home on the Canoe Lake Cree Nation.

The male suspect has been held in custody since then.

No date has been set for his trial.
