NDP leader Dwain Lingenfelter says his party is committed to the construction of a 30-bed long term care facility in La Ronge.

Lingenfelter says a study last year showed the area needs a facility so elders and family members don’t have to be sent away to Prince Albert.

He says building a new facility would actually save money, because there wouldn’t be a need to use hospital beds.

Lingenfelter says details of a long-term care facility would be worked out with the local health region and community groups.

He says the cost of the facility has yet to be determined and other details would be worked out later.
