The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority says a Smoke Signals progressive jackpot of nearly $1 million was won Wednesday at the Painted Hand Casino in Yorkton.

The win is the second largest payout from a slot machine in SIGA and Saskatchewan’s history.

The winner of the $985,969 jackpot was Emile Chandonnet, a retired farmer from Canora.

Smoke Signals is a wide-area progressive that links slot machines from all six SIGA casinos.

It starts at $250,000 and builds as people play, until someone wins the major jackpot.
