After more than two weeks, a 70-year-old Canoe Lake man has ended his hunger strike against storing nuclear waste in this province.

Emil Bell says the first few days were rough, with hunger pains, but then said it was almost euphoric and his mind remained sharp.

He says people were starting to worry about his health, though, given his age.

He decided to quit before anything went wrong.

Bell says once he recuperates, he will continue to raise awareness about what he sees as the dangers of nuclear waste storage.
