The First Nations Statistical Institute has wrapped up the first phase of its survey of First Nations.

The purpose of the survey is to find out what gaps exist in statistics regarding First Nations.

Those stats are needed to help First Nations apply for funding, or identify needs on reserves.

Chief Operating Officer Keith Conn says they found lots of gaps.

The next step is to follow up on that research and try to fill those gaps.

He says that will likely happen later this fall.
