First Nations from around the province will converge on Regina next week for a provincial day of action.

This year it will be a “treaty walk” that will involve First Nations walking down Albert Street before meeting at the provincial legislature where there will be speakers.

Yellow Quill First Nation Chief Larry Cachene says the ultimate goal of the walk is to get the province to sit down with them and discuss treaty implementation.

Cachene says treaty implementation involves everything from education to labour to resource sharing.

He acknowledges recent issues with the FSIN may overshadow the day of action, but hopes the province will still consider working with First Nations to address their issues.
