It was a busy day for RCMP officers on the Kinistin First Nation yesterday.

Officers were dispatched to a home early in the morning for a report of a stabbing.

Along the way they discovered a 24-year-old woman who had apparently been assaulted.

Officers then received information that a man was inside a home with a gun threatening to shoot himself.

When they got to the residence they discovered a lone male outside the house and an unknown number of individuals inside.

Sergeant Paul Dawson says that’s when things got a little tense.

In the end, police negotiators were able to resolve the standoff peacefully.

Four men and one youth were then taken into custody.

Dawson says so far no charges have been laid and no gun was found however three knives were discovered.
