The chief of the Red Pheasant First Nation is charged with impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, and failing to appear in court.
Stewart Baptiste is due back in court in Biggar on February 2nd.
A court official says the February 2nd court date is for the failing to appear charge. It’s not clear if the other charges will be dealt with at that time.
The charges stem from an incident last October.
When he failed to appear in court on January 5th, Baptiste was placed on the RCMP’s most wanted list.
Since then he has reported to RCMP and his name has been removed from that list.
Some band members have said Baptiste should resign or take a leave of absence while the case is dealt with.
Band officials say Baptiste is continuing to serve as chief.
