Northern Nursing Program Retention Tool

A partnership that brings the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Nursing to the north is intended to be a recruitment and retention tool.
The U of S is partnering with Northlands College and the two northern health regions to deliver the four-year nursing degree program in the north so that students can study where they live.
Lorna Butler, Dean of the college, says it also provides an opportunity for those students to later work in those communities or encourage other students to pursue careers in the North.
Butler says the program also benefits the health regions and their existing nurses because the students will be working alongside those health professionals.
The program begins this fall.
