Federal NDP leader Jack Layton was in Prince Albert today to meet with leaders from Northern Saskatchewan.

About 20 leaders took part in the round-table discussion.

Layton says the North was hit hard by the recession, and the federal government needs to take action.

Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River NDP candidate Lawrence Joseph was at the meeting and agrees. He says the federal government needs to increase funding to education.

Metis Nation – Saskatchewan President Robert Doucette was at the meeting, and says the MN-S doesn’t support any political party, but encourages all Metis people to participate in any upcoming federal or provincial election.
