A man accused of a decade-old killing is headed to trial.

Curtis Nataucappo sat in shackles this morning in provincial court as lawyers for the crown and defense jointly agreed to send the matter to trial.

Nataucappo, who is in his early 30’s, was charged last year with second-degree murder.

The charge was in connection to the death of Alexander Ronald Sanderson, who was found dead on the Mistwasis reserve on April 18th of 2001.

The charge against Nataucappo was also downgraded to manslaughter.

His trial will take place at Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench with judge and jury.

Nataucappo will remain behind bars until then.

A date for the trial still has to be set.
