A Buffalo Narrows man has been acquitted of assaulting a police officer.
Today, a judge acquitted Tyler Hansen of the charge in a Prince Albert court room.
Hansen was arrested last June after an off-duty RCMP officer was taken to the hospital with a broken ankle and numerous bumps and bruises.
It was back on the evening of June 20th that officer Chris Hujber and his wife were returning to their home.
They heard squealing tires in front of their house.
Hujber went down to the vehicle and knocked on the window telling the driver to stop.
However, Hansen got out yelling “so you think you’re tough” and began to throw punches.
During the trial, witnesses testified they told Hansen the man he was hitting was an off-duty officer.
However, the judge said none of the three versions were consistent with each other, and he had doubts the information was communicated properly.
While Hansen was acquitted of that charge, he was still found guilty of others.
The judge found him guilty of aggravated assault.
Hansen will be sentenced on that charge in March.
