La Ronge Mayor Hopes Lease Freeze Lifted

The mayor of La Ronge is hoping to work with the provincial government to improve park infrastructure in the region as well as explore lifting a freeze on lake property leases.

Mayor Thomas Sierzycki raised the issues earlier this week at the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association convention.

He says he gets calls from people who are interested in the lake and being in the region.

Sierzycki says the ministry has agreed to at least look at the freeze.

He assures nothing would happen until proper consultation with surrounding communities and First Nations took place.

He says the Minister of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport has also agreed to visit the area so Sierzycki can show him how badly the region needs a proper boat docking facility.
