The preliminary hearing for a woman charged in the death of a toddler began today in Saskatoon.

Eunice Wudrich, who was in court for the first time since being charged, is accused of criminal negligence causing death after 22-month-old Evander Daniels was found drowned in a bath tub in June 2010.

He was one of five toddler foster children living with Wudrich, her husband and their daughter at the time of his death.

The Crown will be calling four witnesses.

It is not clear yet if Wudrich will take the stand.

The preliminary hearing is needed to determine if there is enough evidence to go to trial.

A publication ban prevents reporting evidence presented at the hearing.
