A Yellowquill father found guilty in the freezing deaths of his two young daughters is getting out of prison.

The National Parole Board confirms Christopher Pauchay will be released today.

Pauchay served nearly three years for his criminal negligence causing death conviction.

Santana and Kaydance died after a drunken Pauchay wrapped them in a blanket and lost them outside during an ice-cold blizzard in January 2008.

The Parole Board of Canada noted Pauchay’s long history of substance abuse, but said he has the perserverance and determination to make positive changes.

The board said Pauchay must abstain from alcohol and drugs when he’s released.

Pauchay told the board that he plans to live at a halfway house in another community to get a chance to start over.
