The chairman of the Beverly and Qamanirguaq Caribou Management Board says he’s pleased with a recent federal court decision.

The court has ordered the federal government to produce a protection plan for woodland caribou in Alberta’s oilsands region by September 1st.

Albert Throassie of Tadoule Lake says industrial development is threatening caribou everywhere and it’s good to see the court step into the picture.

Throassie adds numbers are down in both the Beverly and Qamanirguaq herds so he hopes attention is brought to that issue as well.
