Over 100 people representing communities from the North and across Saskatchewan gathered in front of the legislative building in Regina earlier today letting the government know they do not want nuclear waste stored or transported in the province.

Candyce Paul is the secretary on the Committee for Future Generations and says they requested to deliver a petition to Premier Brad Wall or Minister Bill Boyd but neither was available.

Paul says nuclear waste storage and transportation is a provincial issue that the premier needs to address.

Paul says the petition will continue to circulate until it can be presented to the legislative assembly after the election in November.

More than a dozen people, including youth and elders, walked 820km from Pinehouse to Regina over the last three weeks, stopping in several communities along the way.
