AFN Hosts Virtual Summit on Education

Emotionally it’s hard, financially it’s overwhelming.

 

That was the sentiment of one Aboriginal student among hundreds who sent in emails to the AFN Virtual summit on education yesterday.

 

Another student from B.C. says she’s struggling with the decision to move home for family and culture, or stay to finish her education and a future career.

 

Students from across the country shared the their post-secondary experiences – from living in a shelter while attending university, to discrimination, to needing support for a disability.

 

Grand Chief Shawn Atleo hosted the event from Vancouver Island University.
