Police in Prince Albert are mourning the death of one of their officers.

On Saturday morning a single-vehicle rollover claimed the life of Constable Tim Ballantyne.

He was off-duty at the time, driving his personal car about three and a half kilometres south of the city when it overturned.

So far the cause of the accident is not known.

Police describe Ballantyne as well-liked and a family man.

Top brass with the service were seen consoling members at the Victoria Hospital Saturday night.

Prince Albert RCMP are carrying out the investigation into Ballantyne’s death.
