A new poll is out that shows 46% of Saskatchewan residents support development of the oilsands in the province.

The poll was conducted by Sigma Analytics for the Postmedia News Service.

It also found that 33% were against oilsands development.

Of the poll’s respondents, 24.9% were strongly in favour of the idea, while 11.1% were strongly against it.

Sigma Analytics spokesman Cam Cooper says people with a Grade 12 education or less tended to support the idea more than people in university.

However, Cooper says his group didn’t find a noticeable difference in opinion between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people or between northern and southern residents.
