Two of the 16 people arrested in a drug bust in southeast Saskatchewan are on chief and council for the Key First Nation.

Yorkton RCMP Sgt. James Morton confirmed that 58-year-old Clarence Papequash was arrested for trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime.

Fifty-two-year-old Gerald Papaequash, a councillor, faces the same charges.

Both are scheduled to appear in a Kamsack court on February 16th.

Both men were elected in last month’s election. Clarence Papequash was the incumbent chief.
