SaskParty, NDP At Odds Over Aboriginal Employment

Saskatchewan Advanced Education and Employment Minister Rob Norris is standing by his government’s record when it comes to Aboriginal employment.
Last week, the Opposition said the provincial government was failing to get enough First Nations and Metis workers hired — noting the latest numbers from Statistics Canada show that 23.6% of the First Nations labour force and 10.6% of the Metis labour force are still looking for jobs.
Norris says he knows there is always more to be done, but says he is optimistic about the future with more than 13,000 Aboriginal learners currently enrolled in the province.
Norris also says First Nations and Metis employment numbers in the province are up for the fourth consecutive month.
