A portion of the Athabasca Seasonal Road will soon be closed to the public.

Beginning September 18th, crews will be replacing the retaining wall on the bridge over the Cree River.

The site is situated about 60 kilometres south of Stony Rapids.

Saskatchewan Highways spokesperson Kirsten Leatherdale says due to the remote location of the structure, motorists won’t be allowed through.

Leatherdale says it is important the work get done because the retaining wall’s deterioration has become a safety issue.

She says the work is expected to take two to four days.
