They’ve had run-throughs — now the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation is gearing up for a mediation session with SaskPower.

Last week, the band held a roundtable discussion with its lawyer, Tom Berger.

The reason for the meeting was to inform band officials about what would be happening at the end of the month in Saskatoon.

On September 27th and 28th, chief and council will sit down with SaskPower officials to try and reach a settlement over the impact of the Island Falls and Whitesand dams.

In the 1930s, the two structures flooded out some PBCN communities.

Chief Darrell McCallum says band members will be kept informed as things move along.

McCallum says if the mediation doesn’t go well, the band will turn to litigation.
