A hip hop project for northern youth is paving the way for new expression.

The project started in July of this year with hip hop workshops in La Loche, Pinehouse and Ile la Crosse.

Dr. Charity Marsh of the University of Regina says the youth are telling stories using traditional culture and hip hop influences.

The 55 Parallel Northern Saskatchewan Hip-Hop Project is taking place in Regina today and tomorrow.
